TANGERANG: Tangerang regency will ease procedures for permit applications in the tourism sector and close down businesses operating without permits, officials say.
Head of the regency's Industry, Cooperatives and Tourism Agency, Tati Pujianti, said Tuesday that many businesses had complained of red tape.
"This year we target collecting Rp 250 million from permit application fees," she said. Existing businesses that have not obtained the permits would be given time to submit applications.
"After that, the public order agency will close down businesses if the owners refuse to apply for permits," Tati said.
Council member Kurtubi Su'ud of Commission C overseeing permit matters at the regency council said many businesses currently ran without permits.
"The administration should no longer tolerate them .... It needs the fees for the permit and taxes collected to develop the regency," he said.
